Village Electronics Recycling donates laptops for learners in Africa

Your end of life electronics and electronics that we pick up may have no more use to you or your organization but it can make a difference in somebody’s life. With your contributions to our organization, Village Electronics Recycling is proud to have shipped ten laptops and one tablet to learners in need in Magobo, Nigeria.

Village was proud to team up with these learners in need

Although the connection was poor, we were able to host a live video chat with a wonderful young lady who wishes to someday serve her community by becoming an ophthalmologist. She was in disbelief and incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to use her very own computer in the pursuit of her education. These are children who would never even dream of being able to own a computer.

Many students in Africa are still being taught how to use a computer on a chalkboard, without any access to the real thing

Without access to these resources, many of these students are at risk of being left behind in our increasingly technical world, perpetuating a cycle of poverty that often affects one generation after another. While many of our electronic products in Canada are simply discarded after we have used them, being either dismantled or even thrown into the landfill by default, they could still be utilized by many others, who would cherish those devices for years to come.

It is our hope that these students will do something amazing with the help of these computers: use them to complete their education, learn how to code or even start their own company. The possibilities are endless!
